Seniors Week Activities Taking Place Across Nova Scotia
Department of Seniors
Nova Scotians can celebrate the contributions older adults make in communities across the province during Seniors Week, Oct. 1 to 7.
“Earlier this year we launched SHIFT: Nova Scotia’s Action Plan for an Aging Population to focus on helping older Nova Scotians stay involved in work, entrepreneurship, volunteering and other activities,” said Leo Glavine, Minister of Seniors. “Seniors Week allows us to recognize the accomplishments of older adults and learn more about how we can support age-friendly communities.”
Libraries across the province will host free events focused on the interests of older adults.
On Oct. 2, a series of events that explore entrepreneurship and mentorship will be held at Halifax Central Library, 5440 Spring Garden Rd., including a world café conversation around intergenerational opportunities and a discussion about SHIFT to AdvantAGE with Sharon Davis-Murdoch, Tom Emodi, and Chantal Pelham-Edwards. On Oct. 5 at 5:30 p.m. the documentary The Age of Love will be shown in partnership with Mount Saint Vincent University’s Centre on Aging. A discussion will follow the screening with filmmaker, Steven Loring.
These events are free and pre-registration is available at http://www.eventbrite.ca/d/canada–halifax/seniors-week
