I am pleased to report that Bedford will be home to a new school as part of four capital projects in the Halifax Regional Centre for Education. The new school will be located on the southwest side of Bedford, the exact location has not been selected. The school will be home to students from primary to grade 9.
The new school is one of a number of capital projects announced today as we released our School Capital Plan. These projects are in addition to six capital school construction or major renovation projects currently underway, announced in fall 2017.
Schools are chosen based on the priorities submitted by the Regional Centres for Education and the Conseil scolaire acadien provincial (CSAP). Every school on the multi-year plan was noted as a priority by the regions in which they are being built. Final selection is determined by enrollment pressures, facility condition and available funding.
