Snowfall warning in effect for:
Halifax Metro and Halifax County West
Snowfall, with total amounts of 15 to 25 cm is expected.
A strengthening low pressure system southwest of the region will track northeastward as it passes south of Nova Scotia today. Snow and blowing snow will persist over western and northern areas of mainland Nova Scotia, while eastern areas will likely see a change over to ice pellets this morning. Total snowfall amounts near 15 are expected with the highest amounts in eastern areas of the province.
Additionally, higher than normal water levels are occurring along the south coast from Yarmouth to Mahone Bay and is expected to cause minor coastal flooding during the high tide this morning.
Prepare for quickly changing and deteriorating travel conditions. Visibility may be suddenly reduced at times in heavy snow.
Snowfall warnings are issued when significant snowfall is expected.
