FEB – 7 – Environment Canada – Rainfall Warning

The following is a warning for Halifax County and the South Shore of Nova Scotia:

Rainfall warning in effect

Rainfall, combined with melting snow, is expected.

A low pressure system will approach from the northeastern United States today then track up the Bay of Fundy overnight tonight to lie over the Gulf of St. Lawrence Thursday morning.

Snow will begin this afternoon over southwestern Nova Scotia then spread eastward reaching Cape Breton this evening. Snow will change through freezing rain to rain at times heavy before ending early Thursday evening. Up to 30 mm of rainfall are expected for these regions.

Heavy downpours can cause flash floods and water pooling on roads. Localized flooding in low-lying areas is possible.
