Kelly's all about openness and transparency. I served with Kelly on the Bedford Volunteer of the Year Awards committee.
Kelly felt we were ignoring a good segment of our volunteers (the youth) by not having an award for their category -- and she thought we ought to have some clearly stated procedures for voting, to make things fair for all nominated volunteers. Kelly was persistent but pleasant in the face of resistance, and we now have our committee membership and voting rules posted online. When I think back when I first met Kelly Regan, my first reaction was to her out-stretched hand and open smile. This welcome to me was sincere and authentic. Everyone who meets Kelly receives this same attention, when you walk into a room Kelly is the first one to come over and say hello and take your arm and introduce you to her friends, her family, her colleagues or her newest acquaintances.

Kelly is about inclusion, she makes us all feel welcome and she listens to our concerns and she helps us celebrate our victories.

I have watched Kelly at the Mall, at meetings, with her kids on the sports field or at music lessons, no matter who you are, Kelly reaches out and
makes you feel like you belong. Kelly is a remarkable open communicator, who doesn't just talk, Kelly takes the time to listen.

I know my views are important to Kelly and I do know that she listens to the many voices of Bedford Birch Cove no matter which neighbourhood, which age group, soccer or hockey parent, ethnic or cultural group, she hears us, and
weighs our opinions and puts our ideas forward.
