Proposed Provincial Electoral Boundaries for Bedford

The non-partisan Nova Scotia Electoral Boundaries Commission has proposed three scenarios for changes to electoral district boundaries across the province. All three scenarios will result in major changes in Bedford, which is currently the most populous district in the province.

On February 19th, I will be hosting a drop-in information session for residents interested in viewing the maps and sharing their input. For more information, click here.

  • Bedford is currently district #04.
  • The 55- and 56-seat proposal would see two new districts result: Bedford Basin (#04) and Bedford South (#05).
  • The 51-seat proposal would see the Bedford riding name remain in district #04, but parts of Bedford would become part of the Hammonds Plains-Lucasville district (#29).

Because either scenario results in major change for our community, you’re invited to see the proposed changes and to comment on them before the Electoral Boundaries Commission submits its final report. You can see the proposed maps here.

At the public information session, we’ll have large maps for you to view and comment cards for you to fill out. We’ll share your comments with the Electoral Boundaries Commission, or you can send them directly to the Commission by February 28th.
